This morning, all the children from every year group performed to parents and friends in French.  There was even some African singing too.  It was great to see so many enthusiastic performers - tres bien!

Friends in Belgium

We have just skyped our friends in Belgium, but the problem is that we could not hear them, so Jef the teacher of the Belgium school called Mr Barnes so we could all hear them . It was amazing that we could once again speak to our friends in Belgium. We miss them so much .

Year 6 Picasso Art.

Class 6W drew, coloured and painted a portrait copying the great Picasso's work. We drew a portrait of either a person, animal or a musical instrument. We drew a line down the face and half of the face was straight on and the other half was profile (side on). We distorted the image so it was all jumbled up. It was great fun. We used block colours on different parts, we drew it, then we used special aqua pencils and then when we had coloured it in, we used water to turn the pencil on the paper to paint.

Welsh Singing in the Nursery

We have been singing songs in Mrs Edwards' class.  They were Welsh songs!  They were fun.  One of the pictures was of Mr Hapus which means Mr Happy and another was of Mr Triste which means Mr Sad - we all went boo-hoo!  Blogged by the Nursery children.

Mr Barnes says, 'The Spanish word for sad is 'triste' too.'  Isn't that strange?

Spanish afternoon

Wednesday afternoon was focused on Spain.  I popped in to see several of the classes in the Hall with Miss Dowler dancing flamenco, salsa and even some zumba.  There were some great moves from the children.
Y1 also learnt all about the culture of flamenco.  Ole!

Meanwhile, I was teaching the older classes some vocabulary they would need to order a sandwich - there were some great accents and lovely singing.   Muy bien todos!  Don't forget, it's dress up in the French colours tomorrow. Mr Barnes.

Tapas and Sangria para ninos!

This afternoon in Spanish club we tried jamon serrano, chorizo, pimientos con queso, and  desayuno andaluz! This was toast with olive oil and sugar! We ate all the meats and cheese and loved the 'picos' (bread sticks) that went with the tapas!

Esperanza brought in fruits and showed us how to make Sangria para ninos (children's tasty sangria)!

New Words

In Y2 we have learnt some new words.  For example, 'changez de partenaire' means 'change your partner.  Au revoir et merci.

French Dancing

Year 2 have been playing French games as in  dances and handshakes.  Miss shouted out a number in French  and we had to get in a group.  One of the dances was called the polka.

In Year 3, we learnt a dance where you had to skip with a partner.  It was fun!  We had to tap our knees once and clap our hands once.  We had to pretend to be angry...in French.

Flamenco Dress Design

Designing Spanish Flamenco dresses!

French Cafe

The food was tasty and it was good to try different French stuff.  My favourite was the 'limonade'.  We also had cheese which is 'fromage' in French.  I liked the 'pan au chocolat' because it had chocolate inside the bread.

Tongues of Fire

Well done to the Y5 children who composed the music for this morning's assembly, and those who danced.  A lovely start to the week.
